Sunday Reflections

Below are a few quotes that speak to me and some random thoughts on this beautiful Sunday afternoon:

~I am me, nothing more nothing less
a sturdy heart beat in my breast
the long steady rhythm of my breath.
~I am me, as I am, the lynch pin
the pebble, the grain of sand,
the Mountain and the precipice i stand
... ~I am me, nothing more, nothing less
wholly devoted, partially distracted
seeking, finding, believing and hoping.
~I am me, as I am, as I was made
as powerful as a summer rain,
as dulcet as a blade of grass,
As formidable as a Panzer tank
as soft as knitted lace and creme cakes.
~I am me, Nothing More nothing less
Not a perfection to be found,
not a fault that could drag me down,
just simply the conflicts of all that I am
~I am me, nothing more nothing less
just as you are you, and we are all the best
the best and the worst that the universe has to offer.
~We are we, shall we surrender to our better angels,
should we acquiesce to the the whispers of greed,
It is our choice to live up to ourselves.. or not.~ CancerGirl

“Nobody can be exactly like me. Sometimes even I have trouble doing it.”
~Tallulah Bankhead~

I love movies especially old ones with crazy ass people in them who discover the redemptive power of love.

Introduction to Akashic Records

The Akashic Records are an energetic imprint of every thought, action, emotion, and experience that has ever occurred in time and space. The Akashic Records can also be understood as the imprint of all experiences of all lifetime in all realities. They are an etheric, holographic repository of information for human consciousness for the past, present and potentials for the future. The energy that makes up the Akashic Records is the energy of Love! The knowledge contained in the Akashic Records is imprinted upon a subtle substance called the Akasha, which describes the energy of Love that permeates and creates everything in the Universe.

The Akasha is available everywhere, all the time. Everyone can access information from the Akashic Records at any time, and indeed we do! The flashes of intuition and knowing hunches that occur every day are glimpses into the divine wisdom contained in the Akashic Records. Every being in the Universe contributes to and accesses the Akashic Records. Because we are all created by and connected to the energy of Love, our divine birthright includes having access to the divine wisdom and knowledge contained in the Akashic Records.

The Akashic Records contain all past, present, and future possibilities through the vibrations of compassion and joy. They are like the DNA of the universe. They contain a collection of everything that has occurred in the past, and they hold a complete set of information regarding possibilities for the future. Every individual soul has its own, unique Akashic Record. The souls of groups, events, organizations, and locations also have a unique Akashic Record.

One way to understand the Akashic Records is to envision them as a book that contains the entire history of your soul, as well as every aspect of who you are now and all the potentials for your future. This metaphorical book is so vast that it could never exist physically. Instead, it is recorded energetically in the vibration of the Love that makes up everything in the Universe.

The clear truth contained in the Akashic Records allows us the freedom to choose grace in all things. When we know the truth, we can release any illusions we have created that cause us to believe we are separate from God, Spirit, or Source. The Akashic Records are one of the most powerful tools available on the planet today, to help us remember our Oneness with every being in the Universe, and to find our personal and collective power to create the realities we desire.

The first time I met with Sue Freeman was for an akashic reading.  I had read about the records once, many years ago, in an Edgar Cayce book.  I wasn't aware that people could actually learn to access the information themselves and even give readings to others.

I wish now, almost a year later, that I had recorded the session or taken really extensive notes because so many amazing things have happened in my life and I want to compare it to what the records said.

I feel so drawn to the Akashic records.  My Aunt is a librarian.  Research is her life.  I have happy memories of spending time in her libraries growing up.  I love being surrounded by books and acquiring knowledge.

I have to be patient.  Obviously, it's not time yet.

When the student is ready...

In a 1927 publication, Steps to Self-Mastery, S. R. Parchment says:
“When the pupil is ready, the Master appears” is an old Theosophical statement, and I have been able on several occasions to prove its truthfulness.

On an overcast, cool day last summer, I was busy working in my office when B walked in.  I was already feeling stressed so I had been sucking on Rescue Remedy Pastilles (chewable lozenge) for most of the morning.  He wanted to void something in the system and asked for instructions.  I felt fear and desperation.  I thought it was coming from me and had no idea why, which triggered my fight or flight panic mode.  As I tried to calmly list the steps to fix the problem B would angrily second guess my answers.  This wasn't like him at all.  My heart was racing and my chest hurt.

I had had this pain happen before. It always turned out to be a panic attack but I still feared that it could be something wrong with my heart.  It's amazing what runs through your head at a moment like that.  I had lousy health insurance with a hugh deductible.  I had already been to the emergency room three times with the same symptoms.  The hospital probably had a poster of me in admitting.  Warning!  She's really not as bad off as she thinks she is.  I hate causing scenes and there was no way that I intended to perish in that stuffy, windowless office of mine.

What did I do in this perdicament, you ask?  I did what any self-respecting person would do.  I went home sick.  Better to die in my apartment surrounded by familar, charished possessions.  Too bad everyone I loved was either busy, at work or on a play date.  It would have been nice to have someone to share my disquiet with.

As I drove toward home, I remembered that Terri, my acupuncturist, had mentioned the calming benefits of lavender essential oil.  This led to a quandary.  Where would I find this oil?  It occurred to me that there was a shop in Chester that might actually have it.  I continued to take calming breaths as I accelerated.

When I walked into The Art of the Heart (Here) that afternoon, there was a kind looking woman standing behind the counter, clearly feeling the ill effects of the high pollen count.  I proceeded to tell her what I was looking for and why without taking a breath.  Somewhere in the middle of my little speech it occurred to me that my heart was no longer racing.  The anxiety was slowly starting to dissipate.  I was mortified.   She must have thought I was nuts.

I took a long nap when I got home with a bag filled with dried lavender next to me on the pillow.  Panic attacks have always left me exhausted for hours afterwards.

I later learned, that the woman who helped me that day was Susan Freeman, owner of The Art of the Heart.  After thoroughly absorbing Sue's entire website, I called her for a reading.

And that's how the whole thing got started!

I'm an Introvert!

Shy:

1. bashful; retiring.
2. easily frightened away; timid.
3. suspicious; distrustful: I am a bit shy of that sort of person.
4. reluctant; wary.
5. deficient: shy of funds.

Top 10 Myths about Introverts

Myth #1 – Introverts don’t like to talk.
This is not true. Introverts just don’t talk unless they have something to say. They hate small talk. Get an introvert talking about something they are interested in, a...nd they won’t shut up for days.

Myth #2 – Introverts are shy.
Shyness has nothing to do with being an Introvert. Introverts are not necessarily afraid of people. What they need is a reason to interact. They don’t interact for the sake of interacting. If you want to talk to an Introvert, just start talking. Don’t worry about being polite.

Myth #3 – Introverts are rude.
Introverts often don’t see a reason for beating around the bush with social pleasantries. They want everyone to just be real and honest. Unfortunately, this is not acceptable in most settings, so Introverts can feel a lot of pressure to fit in, which they find exhausting.

Myth #4 – Introverts don’t like people.
On the contrary, Introverts intensely value the few friends they have. They can count their close friends on one hand. If you are lucky enough for an introvert to consider you a friend, you probably have a loyal ally for life. Once you have earned their respect as being a person of substance, you’re in.

Myth #5 – Introverts don’t like to go out in public.
Nonsense. Introverts just don’t like to go out in public FOR AS LONG. They also like to avoid the complications that are involved in public activities. They take in data and experiences very quickly, and as a result, don’t need to be there for long to “get it.” They’re ready to go home, recharge, and process it all. In fact, recharging is absolutely crucial for Introverts.

Myth #6 – Introverts always want to be alone.
Introverts are perfectly comfortable with their own thoughts. They think a lot. They daydream. They like to have problems to work on, puzzles to solve. But they can also get incredibly lonely if they don’t have anyone to share their discoveries with. They crave an authentic and sincere connection with ONE PERSON at a time.

Myth #7 – Introverts are weird.
Introverts are often individualists. They don’t follow the crowd. They’d prefer to be valued for their novel ways of living. They think for themselves and because of that, they often challenge the norm. They don’t make most decisions based on what is popular or trendy.

Myth #8 – Introverts are aloof nerds.
Introverts are people who primarily look inward, paying close attention to their thoughts and emotions. It’s not that they are incapable of paying attention to what is going on around them; it’s just that their inner world is much more stimulating and rewarding to them.

Myth #9 – Introverts don’t know how to relax and have fun.
Introverts typically relax at home or in nature, not in busy public places. Introverts are not thrill seekers and adrenaline junkies. If there is too much talking and noise going on, they shut down. Their brains are too sensitive to the neurotransmitter called Dopamine. Introverts and Extroverts have different dominant neuro-pathways. Just look it up.

Myth #10 – Introverts can fix themselves and become Extroverts.
Introverts cannot “fix themselves” and deserve respect for their natural temperament and contributions to the human race. In fact, one study (Silverman, 1986) showed that the percentage of Introverts increases with IQ.

I found the above list on Facebook this morning.  It made me smile.  At some point in my childhood I was referred to as shy.  The label stuck.  I’ve defined myself by this notion for most of my life.  I can’t believe it took me fifty-one years to realize that I’m actually an introvert.  It's very important to me to discover who I truly am in all it's complexity.  I feel so much better now!

Pinterest as Vision Board

A friend told me about Pinterest about a year ago. I was a latecomer to Facebook so I wasn't keen on trying anything new until I found my comfort level with that.

Once I signed up with Pinterest and started creating boards, I was hooked. I believe the reason I like it so much is that I'm actually a very visual person.  That hadn't occurred to me before.

My Pinterest account has become my vision board.  I can pin quotes that move me and images that make me smile.  It's helped me to learn new things about myself.  I'm sometimes surprised by some of the pins that I like or don't like.  I don't need to aquire endless things to be happy.  I've even started to dream big.

Warning: unfortunately, there are some unpleasant and downright horrifying pins out there. It's just one more example, for me, of the power of embracing light over darkness.

Do you have a vision board?  What are you waiting for?
